10th - 21st November, supported by the RSC

Chemistry Days comprise two weeks of curriculum-linked chemistry enlightenment for all ages of which the second week will see a strong green chemistry emphasis throughout. In addition to our in-house expertise we are pleased to have support from SSERC, Edinburgh University and the Chemistry Department at Glasgow University.

Be a colour chemist in our hands-on workshop with fun exciting experiments exploring the chemistry of colour! Work with scientists from the University of Edinburgh.

React! Workshop (S3 - S4) - GSC

This is an investigative team-orientated workshop where pupils use chemical reactions to control a specially designed car in their quest to reach a target distance.

UV Sensitive Beads (S1-S2) - SSERC, 90 minute workshop NEW!

Wed 19th - Thurs 20th Nov 08

Chemical damage to parts of the ozone layer is allowing more UV light to get through. This workshop uses UV sensitive beads to investigate how efficient different factor sunscreens are at protecting your skin from its effects.
