DO YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW HARRY POTTER MADE IT ONTO OUR GIANT SCREEN?

WE THOUGHT WE'D LET YOU IN ON SOME OF THE MAGIC INVOLVED IN MAKING UP THE BRAND NEW HARRY POTTER FILM

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 3D arrives in 14 boxes under the code-name 'Coming Home'

Each Large box contains 6 smaller boxes, which each contain a reel of film. There are 39 reels of film in total for each eye.

Each reel is made up of over 3 minutes of film. The ends of the reels are cut with a serrated edge & then joined together with a a special tape. This makes the joins extra strong.

The joins are all numbered & double checked.

IMAX use 70mm film which has 10x the frame size as standard 35mm film.

The reels are joined together & spooled onto a large 6ft diameter plate one by one.

Once all 39 reels are joined together the eye of film is complete. It's over 43,600 feet (or 8.27 miles) long and weighs over 450 lbs (or over 200 kg)!

Once the left eye has been made-up the same way, then the film is ready to be watched in 3D!
