Supporting Curriculum for Excellence

Inspire & Challenge is a transformational programme that will support you and your school to implement CfE in science.

The purpose of the Inspire & Challenge Programme is to contribute to the successful introduction of the Curriculum for Excellence for P1-P7 teachers by:

  • supporting teachers to take new or existing curriculum requirements and design appropriate experiences for learners.
  • using the topic of Forces and Motion as a platform for learning.
  • developing the processes and skills across the curriculum.

Cost

Course fees: £100 (inc VAT)

2 for 1 offer:  If two bookings are made by the same school/cluster at the same time, the fee will be £100 (inc VAT) for both teachers. 

The course will consist of:

  • two residential elements hosted at the contemporary 4 star City Inn.
  • hands on activities at Glasgow Science Centre.
  • a fieldwork assignment supported by an outreach activity with pupils (see programme).
  • a complete resource pack to take away.

All meals will be provided.

The Programme

The daily programme will be held at Glasgow Science Centre and developed and delivered by a consortium of GSC scientists, educationalists and international experts in theory and practise of education.

Session 1

Thu evening,

Fri, half day Sat
  • investigate CfE and create toolkit for use in the classroom.
  • explore Forces and Motion activities and supporting resource pack.

Field Work & Outreach

5-7 weeks   
  • use knowledge and strategies acquired with pupils in classroom.
  • your class receives a GSC outreach visit about Forces and Motion.
  • sample group participate in research activity with Jordanhill.

Session 2

Fri, half day Sat
  • evaluate and share outcomes.
  • initiate long-term action plans.
Ongoing
  • use toolkits created across the curriculum and with colleagues.
