Hypertonic
Hypertonic drinks have very high levels of sugar (carbohydrates) for athletes, such as marathon runners who need a large energy boost. As they contain so much sugar they are very high in calories. Hypertonic drinks have a much higher concentration than blood and so the fluids are not easily absorbed. Therefore, they should be drunk alongside an isotonic drink or water to rehydrate your body after a work out.
